I awoke to the sound of a buzzing mosquito in my ear this morning. Actually, it’s still buzzing…a sound I haven’t heard in a LONG time.

Living in Montreal is so different than life where I grew up. My childhood home is quiet and peaceful on the river and there isn’t much to do other than run around outside. I am currently visiting my Grandparents and this morning is my last morning here before Paul and I begin our 4-week road trip through the States to British Columbia.

Tonight we’re in Ottawa for one last party with friends and then we leave tomorrow.

It seems that this Spring was jam packed, and looking back, it really was. My best friend got married and I spent much of my time planning parties for that, but also I went to Texas with friends, went to an outdoor rock concert in Pennsylvania, bought a house, MOVED. Exciting stuff!

Because of the whole moving business and travelling around to plan the move, I haven’t been super active in the kitchen, and will be less so as the summer progresses BUT! I made quite a few delicious things!! My Seedy Sourdough Bread was my favourite creation. I became obsessed with making my own sourdough starter in the winter and came up with a ton of fun recipes using the stuff! Mostly this bread, but also pizza, and muffins, and pancakes!

I tried a few recipes from some other food bloggers this month as well (and loved them!):
(1) Vegan Gluten Free Peanut Butter Swirl Brownies, Mediterranean Baked Sweet Potatoes, and Spaghetti Squash Pasta with Basil Pesto by Minimalist Baker
(2) Creamy Carrot Ginger Soup by Seasons and Suppers
(3) Thai Zucchini Noodle and Quinoa Salad by Foodie Crush (pictured below)
(4) Lemon Cheesecake by Taste and Tell
(5) Powerhouse Squash Soup by Wholehearted Eats
(6) 20 Minute Rhubarb Jam by Take a Megabite
(7) Spring Celebration Salad by Green Kitchen Stories

I’ve never commented before, but have been following your blog for a long time, and just wanted to say I’m excited to see what you cook up when you move to BC! I’m in the Okanagan and love it here!!! My husband and I did a road trip down to LA for our honeymoon and I was so amazing. We didn’t take full advantage of what Portland has to offer in terms of food, but definitely visit Voodoo Doughnuts 🙂

    • katrina says:

Voodoo Doughnuts is on my list!! And thank you so much for popping in to say hello. I’ve heard only good things about the Okanagan and hope to visit for my first time when we arrive in August!
