My website was down for a few days and just disappeared “poof” without explanation. Needless to say, I have been a mad mess for the past week.
When something like this happens there is only so much I can do on my end. I let the people who host my server know, they look into things, it takes time…yadda yadda. Soooo for the last little while I’ve just been sitting around hoping some nice computer person will help me. And alas, some fine saviour did come along, and so, here I am! And I am a very thankful lady right now.
On a happier note, I did have a wonderful month so far! I was in Spain for a while a few weeks ago lounging on the beach and hiking in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. Now that the weather has turned a bit cooler I am definitely missing the warm sun, but the leaves are super gorgeous and keep me happy 🙂
Speaking of pumpkin, did you see the giant Virtual Pumpkin Party I was a part of? There were over 70 bloggers who took part and all of them shared a unique and fabulous recipe made with pumpkin. I made a dulce de leche ice cream (it is SO good) and then made it into a simple affogato. It was unreal.
My favourite recipe that I made this month has got to my dirty cheese fries. I spiced them up and added a big dollop of sour cream on top. Any kind of fries are just the dang best.
Oh! And speaking of “the best” I recently made this butternut squash soup from Seasons and Suppers and HIGHLY recommend it. Jennifer describes it as “simply perfect” and I agree. I wouldn’t change a thing!

I also managed to find a few “new to me” blogs this month as well.
Kale & Caramel – dying for this fall salad with crispy halloumi.
Chocolate + Marrow – need this garlic white pizza with chanterelles.
Yummy Beet – craving these savory oats with squash, soft boiled eggs and herb oil (pictured below).

I went wedding dress shopping with my best friend!!! Cue the waterworks. Ugh, she’s such a beauty that it hurts my heart.
Book-wise, I am currently reading The Girl in the Spider’s Web by David Lagercrantz. It’s the much-hyped forth novel in the Millennium series books by Stieg Larsson. I really loved reading the other books so despite the hoopla around this forth novel I HAD to read it! I am only on chapter 2 so far but am not disappointed…time will tell.
I just finished reading Luckiest Girl Alive by Jessica Knoll – it was definitely a page turner! Online I kept reading that it was “the next Gone Girl” but I really didn’t find that. The main character was way less crazy and manipulative than Gone Girl’s Amy and I really enjoyed reading it.
The Martian. Absolutely fantastic for science nerds!! Or any human with a crush on Matt Damon.
Amy. Depressing and hard to watch at times. What a voice though!
Happy Valley Season 1. I LOVED watching this show!! This is a Netflix original and really had me biting my nails. It gets dark at times but the acting is fantastic. Show me a strong female protagonist and I am so down!
The Americans Season 1. I’m still watching this with Paul. Now that he’s home full time pretty much we should be able to cover some serious ground. I love this show a lot as of right now!!
Have a blast this Halloween and November!! Are you dressing up?
